Cultural diversity has been increasing in healthcare systems, raising new challenges for nurses and healthcare professionals. Although the social inclusion of migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers is a priority in Europe, nursing education is not capacitating nursing students, as future professionals, to intervene in multicultural contexts.
The MulticulturalCare project aims to develop innovative pedagogical practices for preparing nursing students to intervene in multicultural contexts and protect the health of migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees: the MulticulturalCare Education Model.
The Nursing School of Coimbra will organize the first Learning, Teaching, and Training activity (LTT) in Portugal.
This LTT will convene a group of national nursing experts (teachers and tutors) involved in implementing the MulticulturalCare Model in nursing education and using the MulticulturalCare E-book and Simulation Scenarios as pedagogical tools.
Nursing teachers and tutors are expected to disseminate the MulticulturalCare Model in their network of students, teachers, nurses, and other relevant stakeholders, engaging them as active agents in the project.
